Across the Spider-Verse Merch Offers a First Look at Spider-Punk


Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse will bring plenty of new Spider-People to the big screen, and a Spider-man heading to theaters for the first time, Spider-Punk, recently got a full design reveal thanks to newly released merchandise.

Marvel Cinematic Universe fan account Mcu Campus (@McuCampus) recently took to Twitter to show off a new piece of Through the Spider-Verse commodity: a puzzle. Besides being a fun way to pass the time, this particular puzzle also includes a new image of Spider-Punk, punk rock Spider-Man from another universe, who will appear in the upcoming animated movie. In traditional Spider-Punk fashion, he carries his electric guitar and is equipped with a spiked bracelet and an impressive mask-mohawk.

Spider-Punk isn’t the only Spider represented here. The puzzle also features Miles Morales, the protagonist of Through the Spider-Versethe predecessor of, Into the Spider-Verse. Another one Into the Spider-Verse star, Gwen Stacy, also makes an appearance. There’s also a quick look at Miguel O’Hara, who appeared in Into the Spider-Verseof the post-credits scene and will play a major role in Through the Spider-Verse. Ben Reilly the Scarlet Spider is also there, having appeared on another piece of Through the Spider-Verse merch: a licensed version of the board game Difficulty.

Elsewhere on the box there is also an image of Cyborg Spider-Woman. Unlike the other heroes of the film, Cyborg Spider-Woman is an original character created for Through the Spider-Verse. She has the same cybernetic augmentations as Cyborg Spider-Man, a somewhat obscure comic book character, but she looks much taller and has a fundamentally altered design. Fans have already seen Cyborg Spider-Woman as a Hasbro action figure.

That’s already a lot of new spiders, but producer and co-writer Christopher Miller says there will be even more in the final film. By his tally, there will be 240 Multiverse Spider-Men, Women, and Children. Still, Miller reassured fans that the film wouldn’t stray too far from the character-driven narrative of the first film. He says that Through the Spider-VerseThe story still centers around Miles, although Gwen and a few other characters will also play a big role in the narrative.

Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse hits theaters June 2, 2023. Its sequel, Beyond the Spider-Versewill follow closely, in theaters on March 29, 2024.
