ArtScene’s ‘Poetry Prelude’ Opens Spring Festival

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) — Rockford is simply eclectic with city favorites like ArtScene showcasing regional talent.

Celebrating art in the form of poetry, ArtScene begins at 4 p.m. Friday, April 22, inside Rockford City Hall, 425 E. State Street.

The Poetry Prelude is an opportunity for fans to rub shoulders with local writers, including Rockford Poet Laureate Christine Swanberg and Youth Poet Laureate Gianna Gamero.

13 artists aged 16 or over were selected to perform during the gallery reading. They will share aloud the original and artistic interpretations of 1000 words or less. A panel will be on hand to give feedback to the artists.

ArtScene is a bi-annual gallery walk, organized by the Rockford Area Arts Council, featuring new and established artists from the area.

ArtScene visitors are welcome free of charge at all venues.

The event features a wide variety of artwork to purchase and enjoy, including jewelry, paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, quilts, and fiber art.
