Deep Water: “In an email from Kevin”, by Mike Bove

This week’s poem, “In an Email from Kevin” by Mike Bove, offers a brief but enlightening meditation. I love the simple sentences in this poem and their movement – the short lines have the rhythm of how we breathe and think as we walk. I also love how this piece reminds us that poetry happens all around us, in forms that are both grand and common.

Bove is the author of two collections of poems: “Big Little City” (2018) and “House Museum” (2021). His work has been published in journals in the US, UK and Canada, and he won the Maine Postmark Poetry Contest 2021. He is an Associate Professor of English at Southern Maine Community College and lives with his family in Portland, where he was born and raised.
