The poetry program returns with Groarke & Ní Churreáin

The poetry program, presented by Olivia O’Leary, returns for a new fall season on Sunday November 14 at 7 p.m. on RTÉ Radio 1.

In the first program, poets Vona Groarke and Annemarie Ní Churreáin join Olivia to talk about their new collections, both published by The Gallery Press.

Vona Groarke

Vona Groarke was born in the Irish Midlands and attended Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork. She has lived in Dublin, Cork and Dundalk and was a writer in residence at the universities of Galway and Maynooth. She was co-holder of the Heimbold Chair in Irish Studies at the University of Villanova (2004). A member of Aosdána, she was selected as Cullman Center Fellow at the New York Public Library 2018/19 and currently teaches at the Center for New Writing at the University of Manchester.

She joins Olivia to read about her new collection, Link: Poet and World, published by The Gallery Press.

Annemarie Ní Churreáin is from Donegal Gaeltacht. His Bloodroot collection, published by Doire Press in 2017, was shortlisted for the Shine Strong Award and the Julie Suk Award. She is the recipient of the Next Generation Artist Award and co-recipient of the Markievicz Award. She has received literary scholarships from the United States, Germany and Scotland and has been a writer in residence at NUI, Maynooth and the Center Culturel Irlandais in Paris. The poison valley is his first collection with The Gallery Press.
